Wilbert and Marieke Rietveld are serving with Mission Aviation Fellowship in Indonesia. They’ve been in Indonesia since 2010 and just recently moved to the island of Papua. They have two children, Doortje and Lucas.

Wilbert is responsible for MAF's IT systems on all ten bases in Indonesia. He will be leading a regional Tech-Team of local and western workers spread out through the country. His team is still small though, he’s still looking for volunteers!

Good communication and reliable computer systems are essential for MAF to be able to fly safely. Also, international and national authorities demand high standards when it comes to IT-systems. Wilbert's main focus is to set up a reliable network infrastructere that enables computers on different bases to talk to each other and to the servers at head quarters. Besides that, he is overseeing the implementation of uniform computer programs for aircraft maintenance, finance and flight operations.

Marieke is a homemaker, taking care of our home and our children. As a midwife she’s looking for opportunities to be involved again in providing training and medical care.

Papua

Papua is the most eastern part of Indonesia. Over the last few decades MAF has been supporting the people living on this huge island. MAF airplanes are located on five basis and fly to over a hundred small airstrips in the largely undeveloped jungle of Papua. Without MAF the people in these villages would be isolated, only to be reached after days and days of dangerous hiking through the jungle.
MAF is here in Papua to Connect, Care and Cultivate. The airplanes connect people from the isolated villages with each other, but also with education, medical care and the light of the Gospel. People from MAF do so because we care, and want to help with sharing the gospel and promote the development of this island.
